So, who is Jason Bourne?
Well, it depends who you ask, and where you're intel is coming from. In general, we prefer to stick to Robert Ludlum's Jason Bourne; that is, the Bourne identity that Ludlum created. No offense against Matt Damon, who portrays a great Jason Bourne. Still, the film version simply doesn't follow the true storyline.
According to Ludlum's original Jason Bourne novel (The Bourne Identity), Jason Bourne never existed. Actually, the original Jason Bourne was a drifter from Tasmania, who was executed in the field by David Webb, after betraying their group's location to the Vietcong. Webb later took the name as part of a clandestine CIA operation codenamed Treadstone 71. So, the Bourne identity was fabricated by members of the American government.
The goal: to ferret out and kill the world's most dangerous assassin for hire. Learn more about Jason Bourne.
